We made it to the XPRIZE Competition!

• 19 May •

Have you ever wondered where does crazy innovation come from? Who thinks of these surreal projects we often hear about? Well, the truth is anyone can do it, either you or us, but the only thing needed is someone that believes.

Sometimes these people that believe, are also crazy enough to challenge themselves in a global competition. In this case, the crazy team was formed by ecx-labs and handytec.

This time, we will try to change learning in a way the world has never seen while competing in the IBM Watson AI XPRIZE.

Our team, called TIP, is the only South American team competing among 147 teams selected from all over the world.

Galo is leading the way on this journey where we want to prove, now more than ever, that Ecuador can and will develop unforeseen ideas and great technology.

Our team

The IBM Watson AI XPRIZE is a $5 million competition, challenging teams globally to develop and demonstrate how humans can collaborate with powerful AI technologies to tackle the world’s grand challenges. The prize aims to accelerate adoption of AI technologies and spark creative, innovative, and audacious demonstrations of the technology that are truly scalable and solve societal grand challenges.

AI Innovation

To encourage innovation in any form, the competition is an open challenge in AI. Rather than set a single, universal goal for all teams, this competition will invite teams to each create their own goal and solution to a grand challenge. The IBM Watson AI XPRIZE is a four-year competition with annual milestone competitions in 2017 and 2018. The top three finalists will compete for the Grand Prize at TED 2020.
